Received the rest of the piping...I'm almost done test fitting all the pipes :)

The routing is all figured out, all fits well and hood closes very well.

Turbo side piping is done and no problem I can keep my electric Power steering :)

All thats missing is joining the pipe that goes from one end to another it will be right behind the intercooler I will weld some hooks to mount the 3" feet pipe..

I'm having lots of fun building this...and at the same time I'm affraid how crazy  powerful this car is going to be it was a beast with 10 PSI of supercharged boost now with 20PSI of supercharger and turbo together cant wait!!

Stay tuned lots more coming....

Piping is almost done for new intercooler...

Ordered more tubing should be here soon. You can see the blow off valve that will make sure the turbo can release its boost.

This front mount is 2.5 X times bigger then my small underhood one.
This plus water meth injection should keep the twincharged boost heat at bay...

FEDEX just dropped 2 BIG boxes that weight 65 pounds... :)

I was very excited to receive the CXRACING turbo kit for the E30 for a few reasons... and one of them was to take out my magnifying glass and inspect the hell out of it to check out its quality construction... at first the metal is very heavy so good sign :)

I checked the flanges for straightness and thickness, welds, I have to admit that I am very surprised by the quality of all this stuff. I know a good weld when I see one and these welds are very very precise with almost perfect penetration and also the welds are grinded down nice and smooth and haven't seen any pin holes either.. (My old thermal research cat back for my old 91 Mitsubishi eclipse back in the day that cost 1500$ was not as quality as this) so am scratching my head on why people hate on some ebay vendors?!? I cant vouch for others but CXRACING has a very solid kit here...

38mm ext Wastegate again everything looks quality..

The turbo is a replica of a garrett GT35 with a A/R 70 ratio its not a small turbo and again I looked it over and cant see anything different then my old Mitsubishi 14B turbo on my eclipse in the day... How long will it last not sure but all it needs to put out is 8PSI for my goal of total 20 PSI with my Supercharger...

All the fittings, oil lines, and a really well build oil filter adapter to run the feed oil line. All gaskets are metal, every bolt, this is quite a complete kit...all it doesnt have is the oil return like..

So far I have to admit am impressed with this kit... am not sponsored by CXRACING and didnt get paid to say this...I just wanted to be honest and maybe stop the nonsense that all Ebay stuff is garbage...

This kit can be bought directly from www.cxracing.com I grabbed it on special on Blackfriday :)

Stay tuned...

more intercooler work..

Lined up and bolted in place to get all the airflow possible...

started working on the new pipe routing... waiting on all the new couplers, reducers, pipes.. should be here soon...

Waiting on many parts but tomorrow I should receive all the turbo components cant wait!...

On BLACKFRIDAY CXRACING had a deal I could not refuse:

Did some research and apparently the few that bought this kit are very happy with it, performance and quality wise. I will be putting it to the test but since I don't need more then 8PSI from the turbo side as my boost is compounded and I only use my car 6 months of the year it should last a pretty long time. No point in Spending 3-4K on a turbo kit. I also got their 3" CAT back with the silencer removed it sounds pretty good:

Ebay got a bad rap from a lot of crap sold there but am convinced this kit is the best out there for the price and quality you get in return. Should have it in 2-3 days will take a video of all the parts to show everybody.

stay tuned...

Part are starting to arrive... Got the new SuperCharger intercooler and some mild steel 2.5" bends. According to Corky Bell in the book "supercharged!" the best intercooler setup is like this one. The best way to cool air is by having more channels then long channels which makes total sense.

So the small original Audi intercooler I used before will be moved to the turbo side to cool the turbo air before it enters the Supercharger. It looks like a dirty mess right now but everything will be removed cleaned and re-painted wrinkle black.

So right now am waiting for my ARP head studs, 60# siemens injectors and yes believe it or not ALL the turbo components are ordered. So it will be out with the Headers (for sale) and full exhaust (for sale) as I have a 3" full cat back on the way too..

Stay tuned it wont be long before i have the first Twincharged M20 started :)

last idle before twincharge project starts

last idle before twincharge project starts.

After reading a LOT...came down to the decision to have the turbo feed the Supercharger it is apparently the best way to compound boost. My only concern right now is If I compound the boost turbo(10PSI) and SC (10-12)PSI right now with my 7" crank pulley is I will get a total of 29PSI Which is a hell of lot. I want to stay in the 20PSI max so I will have to adjust the pulley on the charger and wastegate on Turbo. Compounding boost is pretty awesome you get to bring down the PSI on each to their (max efficiency) and get to use a pretty big turbo that will spool really quick because of the extra exhaust gas because the SC is blowing extra 1L of air.

Once the air compressed by the turbo it get even more compressed by the SC thats why it goes from total 20PSI (my example) to 29PSI in the engine.

SUCCESS!!

After much time spent building the MS box.... I ran into an issue where it would not connect to the PC com port...with a LOT of help from Keith "whodwho" on R3vlimited.com this guy knows his stuff.  I finally found the problem ..corrected the backword diode and voila !! ready to go!

Next is install the IAT into the intake, install new vaccum line to MAP sensor and start tuning!!

the tunerstudio software is AMAZING!! wow finally I can tune my car fully!!

Sunday, October 7, 2012

Well god damn...the day was beautiful... my car is running like a champ....and Sunday Street car try outs where closed for whatever reason :(

I call the only dyno place around here and they cant book me until 2 weeks...and am storing my car away november 1st ....so the hell with this plus they want to charge me 200$ for 2 runs...

So I went with another option.... after all my research and money value..

http://www.gtechpro.com/ss_fanatic.html

I should have it this tuesday :) very excited about finally getting some numbers!!

Wait till you see the torque graph on this car...

Plus I will be able to compare to my father in law 2008 335i and GF 2012 WRX

good news and really bad news

**Update**

Good news and really bad news..... good news my car finally passed Provincial safety so am 100% legal in my province now and that's a huge load of my shoulders.

bad news well I have to pause the turbo side of the project as my job is now uncertain...I have to compete for my own job still cant believe this....ARG!!!#@$!@%$#^!#ER#TR$# I wont rant here about it as I would be writing all day and all night about it.

Other bad news I wont be able to go to the track today and I was so looking forward to it After the 5 hour drive to go do my safety I came back to 5 rib belt instead of 6 rib...have to investigate what happened and order a new belt before I stay stranded at the track or on the road... It literally shredded 1 rib.

stay tuned...

Saturday, September 15, 2012

Car is partly tuned...gave my GF a test drive...

10 PSI and still got a good 20-30 HP of power on the table...

sorry for crappy video

Monday, September 10, 2012

So to prepare for the abuse of tuning I did an oil change 20w50 Castrol dino oil with a Mobil1 filter and BPR8ES NGK sparkplugs.

I got 3/4 of the tuning done and finally working on WOT.... Full throttle my SC unleashed 12 PSI in less then 1/2 second... running 16 degrees of timing on 91 octane no detonation so Im clear to go to the dyno EXCEPT the damn Clutch slave is leaking now...

I still cant believe my exedy clutch can hold this amount of power...and survived all the detonation of street tuning..

Sunday, September 9, 2012

Long time no update... raison why? Well my PS rack blew as soon as I actived the EPS. What to expect from a 20+ year old PS rack.

I also installed my new 130A alternator (the old 70A was on its way out anyways) and I needed the extra power for the EPS and new sound system.

Last but not least I installed my new 7" 6 rib pulley and sourced a nice Good year Gatorback belt for it..took a good 4 different belts to find one and only mod to the tensioner was a reversed install and its nice and tight now making almost 9PSI :)

Only thing missing now is Tuning...tuning...tuning... and get ready to pass the provincial safety.

Dyno sheet and video coming up soon...as I get an appointment.

stay tuned...

I went out to put some gas and 1st gear I got almost 10PSI heard detonation....removed foot from gas pedal and ease it in all the way...Car is a BEAST!! I wasn't expecting this amount of boost so quick 2000 rpm not even full boost on 1st is unreal!!

Sunday, August 19, 2012

Finally drivable tuned! ...moved on to EPS

So I finished the idle and part throttle tune for it to be street able. I'm very impressed how nice it drives and sounds day and night from my other setup and its not even tuned yet. It was very worth it I love the low end torque .

So I had to order a new Alternator as mine is dying I had to replace it anyways with a higher amp rated one to accomodate my EPS. So I found a highly reputable company BNR for 120$ I get a nice rebuilt shiny 130AMP BOSCH replacement much better then my old 70AMP one since the EPS takes about 50A when turning.

Got the rack side done, with JIC fittings custom made 4 feet hose rated for 3200 PSI (I need 1500PSI) but better to be safe then sorry. Got the 80AMP relay all wired up and ready just need to tap in the radio 12V acc and also weld a braket to hold the pump in place got buy some ATF fluid..

So EPS install,.,,then when I receive my alternator I will install it along with my new 7" crank pulley cant wait for this because right after I will be going to Julien performance to tune it on the dyno and bring back some number for you all.

oh and here is a nice shot to show you my dedicated belt setup to all the aspiring roots type M20 guys...

Grand prix and throttle body relocation and Electric PS

Long time no updates...finally all moved in but I could not resist in going to see my friend Arek from www.8legsracing.com race at the trois riviere grand prix.

Here is is posing with my 12 year old Nicolas, it was his first time at the races he loved it.
Pic of me and my son in front of yet another very cool and powerfull BMW  at the grand prix.

So I decided on these little mini project on my car to make it a better street machine.

-Sound proofing I made a custom sound blanket (removable) and added insulation on the hood and inside the dash.
-Also relocating my throttle body to make it the way a roots type is really suppose to work (I had issues with drivability and with 10-12 PSI no way a BOV or multiple BOV would work....plus the sound is way too much) so this decrease the sound by a LOT and with no BOV drivability will be much better. Its a lot more work but much worth it.

And here you can see the location of my electric PS with the high and low pressure attached (just have to make a mount for it)

After I finish these 2 mini project I will install my big custom 7" pulley and look for a 6 rib belt and then am off to the drags (my goal is 2 weeks) then let the fun begin :)

Monday, July 23, 2012

Finally the E30 and M30 motor are in my new garage (coupel of pics) work will resume soon....

Off to visit the drag race track sunday (15 min away ) :)
